The City of Philadelphia has brought together city agencies and partner organizations to prepare GreenPlan Philadelphia, a comprehensive open space plan for the city.
GreenPlan Philadelphia's Mission:
Reconnect all Philadelphians to green parks and open space by developing a long-term vision, preparing a strategic plan, and implementing the plan’s recommendations over 15 years.
- GreenPlan Philadelphia uses a collaborative process to enable informed public decision making about open-space use, acquisition, development, connectivity, funding, and management.
- GreenPlan Philadelphia promotes, advocates, and guarantees a significant role for the creation and preservation of open space as an environmental, social, economic, and health-enhancing resource for residents, workers, and visitors alike.
- GreenPlan Philadelphia defines open space as publicly and privately owned land and other “green resources” that are preserved or have the potential to be preserved for recreation and conservation purposes.
