Green Roofs

What an awesome idea! I've lived in Philadelphia for the last 9 years and in the area my entire life. We probably have some of the ugliest and old rooftops in the country. Why not stop some of the flooding we have had so much of recently and start planting gardens and lawns on our rooftops. This will provide more clean water for the entire city as well as stop a lot of the flooding issues we have had due to an abundance of impervious surfaces.

Plus, it will make the whole city look a lot better. Grass grows out here so naturally and beautifully that other cities would kill to have that advantage. We have it so let's use it!

They're doing it in Northern Liberties (which was a total dump about 10 years ago) and people are loving it. Why not do it everywhere and make it the new standard for a greener philadelphia?

I really appreciate the work that went into this web site. Group discussion is just what this city needs because this is a city and area where people want to spend their entire lives. Why else do you think everyone who was born here, stays here?
