1. What are the top three key concerns you have about the existing open space in your community?

Think about the existing open space in your community. Examples include: parks, ball fields, vacant lots,  gardens, traffic triangles, riverfronts.

Consider the condition of these spaces: How are they maintained and used? Do you have easy access to them?

Please prioritize the top three key concerns you have about these spaces (specific and/or general) at the top of your post.

three most important things

The most important thing about the green areas of Philadelphia should be to maintain a clean enviroment. Cleaning of the parks is essential to enjoying them.

Number two would be safety at the parks. If the police can't patrol all the time, there should be armed security there to protect community residents.

number three would be turning brownfields long ago abandoned by former employers into green areas. the creation of a lake would be a great surplus to the community. it can be a place or relaxation in the summer and a ice rink in the future.

Vacant space at 2601 N. Broad St.

Hi,
My name is Teresa Edmunds and I am the Program Director here at Volunteers of America's ISSI Program located at 2601 N. Broad st. At 2601 N. Broad St. there is a historic building of which we presently call Station House. The building itself is attractive but is in great need of an upgrade as a result of the vacant space located directly next to the building.

In my efforts to make changes to the appearance of that area I was informed that because the building is historic, we- as an agency- could not make any changes and that it would have to come directly from the city.

As an organization we would appreciate any form of assistance that would be provided in order to beautify the area. The space would prove to be more appealing to the community as well as beneficial to our clients if it was improved upon by fencing it in and creating a seating area with outstanding landscaping.

If you would like to discuss this matter further I can be reached at 215-229-6434.

Thank you in advance,
Teresa Edmunds
