About the Process
GreenPlan Philadelphia began in the spring of 2006 with the formation of six working groups, made up of city employees from thirteen agencies. This broad-based planning process is designed to institutionalize GreenPlan's recommendations into the city's operational departments involved in open space issues.
GreenPlan Philadelphia hosted a vibrant community engagment process in the fall of 2006, consisting of community meetings, this website, and a number of other information-gathering activities.
Draft recommendations will be based on a combination of the community input as well as research into best practices, data about access to open space, demographics and a variety of other important considerations. The draft recommendations will be available for comment on this website and at additional public meetings.
Toward the end of 2007, the final version of GreenPlan Philadelphia will be published.
GreenPlan Philadelphia is a large, ambitious and dynamic project that will help sustain, create and improve open spaces throughout Philadelphia for many years to come. Please stay involved through this website and let us know what you think!
