On-street trash receptacles

I couldn't agree more with your comment concerning on-street recycling receptacles, but first how about some trash receptacles. If you give people a place to put they're trash that’s convenient, they're less likely to just toss it on the ground. In other major cities, like New York, it seems like there is a least one trash can on every block. A city wide clean up day is great, but unless more trash receptacles are provided throughout the city we'll need one of these days every month. This seems like a relatively inexpensive and simple way to greatly reduce the amount of litter on our streets.

Clean Streets by Recycling

How about we have recycling receptacles on our streets? Most major cities offer this service right now.

Also, most Philadelphia businesses do not recycle. This is deeply troubling. We are significantly behind the bell curve on a number of greening issues in this city. We really need change now.

greater effort to contain trash

as a nearby resident,i would like to see a greater residential and city (sanitation) effort to contain trash in the wilson housing project. there does not seem to be enough recepticals (dumpsters)especially on vare ave. trash is strewn all over the streets week after week when the residents of the housing project put their trash out. There is no street clean up after the sanitation department collects the trash. it is an eyesore and some times a driving hazard.

Clean Streets By Recycling

Stress recycling to our school children in order to keep our streets clean. Just dont throw empty bottles, containers, wrappers in the street; take the trash to the nearest receptacle. Also place recycleable's in proper containers. Hold seminars in all schools on a periodic basis. We educate our children, they in turn bring this home to their parents in helping to keep Philadelphia Green. Lets all pitch in, get the trash off our streets. Just stop and think how much cleaner and healthier our City will be. "Keep Philadelphia Green"
